The Gotberg winery is located near Hustopeče in the village of Popice in Southern Moravia. It was established in 2003, and the first wines were launched in 2010. From the beginning, the winery has endeavored to produce quality wines with attributes, focusing on traditional as well as new varieties, which fit in well here and are thriving.
Gotberg is headquartered in a new building exemplifying modern winery architecture. It won the award for the „Best Industrial Design of the South Moravian Region in 2009“. The open terrace of the winery has a lovely view of the dominant local features – the Pálava Hills and the Mušov Lakes. An autumn wine-tasting room, called the Diamond due to its shape, is the perfect venue for wine-tasting events. There are seven rooms available for overnight guests after an enjoyable evening of wine tasting.
We currently manage 56 hectares of our own vineyards, and in distribution, we are one of the largest producers of organic grapes in the Czech Republic. The grapevines grow in a clay and loess soil bed rich in calcium, and ripen on round terraces alongside growths of licorice and rose hip bushes, wild cherry trees and peach-almond hybrid trees. We manage five wine routes: Panenský kopec, Svidrunk, Sonberk, Stará hora and the new Unédy wine route.
Our wines have won awards and medals at many wine competitions at home and abroad. When processing our grapes we respect European standards and we use the most modern technology, whether producing wine in stainless steel tanks or in traditional oak barrels.
